4-Day Class: Advanced Cloisonné & Champleve Enameling February 20 – 23, 2024

Description: In this class, James Carte will teach advanced Cloissoné and introduce Champleve, demonstrating how the technique can be combined with Cloisonne enameling skills. In Champleve, a pierced design is created using a jeweler’s saw in a sheet of fine silver. The pierced sheet is then soldered to a second sheet of fine silver. The wells formed when the two silver sheets are joined are filled with powdered glass/enamel.
Class Hours Each Day: 9am-4pm
Prerequisite: Intro to Cloisonné Enameling with James Carter or technical proficiency in the technique is required for both the Advanced Cloisonne and Champleve projects. Students choosing the Champleve project option must also be proficient with a jeweler’s saw and have experience soldering silver. Please email the studio with questions.
