Guest Artist Dallas Pridgen: Lost Wax Casting September 29 – October 1, 2023

We have never taught lost wax casting, at James Carter Studio, because we never had room for the equipment and we lacked a qualified instructor. Now we have both.

Your instructor, Dallas Pridgen, has been casting gold, silver, and bronze for more than 30 years. He is a master of the medium. The first part of the class will be held at James Carter studio. This time will be devoted to developing wax carving skills and design of your work.

Upon completion of the first stage, we will take a four block road trip to the studio of Dallas Pridgen. There, Dallas will teach the techniques of sprueing the models,investing, and burnout. Casting the model in molten silver will complete this stage.

The final stage will be returning to my studio where we will clean our castings and add any embellishments to the piece of jewelry.

This class is a first for us, in the using of two studios. If you have ever wanted to learn this exciting medium start to finish, this class will exceed your expectations. Limited to six students.
