All In-Studio classes are taught on-site at the James Carter Studio and School of Jewelry Arts. The studio is located in historic Carr Mill Mall, Carrboro, NC.
Enrollment in the in person, hands on, classes is limited to four students per session. (Enameling and cloisonné classes may allow up to six students.) In every class each student has an individually assigned jeweler’s bench for the duration of the class. Each bench is well lit and equipped with a Smith Little torch for soldering and annealing. Each bench includes a Fordham flex shaft for precision polishing and grinding. While students may bring their own hand tools, all necessary hand tools are provided at each bench. Shared equipment includes anvils, vises, kiln, specialty hammers, rolling mill, draw plates and sanding and polishing wheels. Unless otherwise noted at registration, all metals, enamels and fabrication supplies are provided to class participants by the studio.
If you need magnifying lenses or loupes some are available at the studio but it is recommended that each student provide their own. Safety glasses are the individual responsibility of each student. The studio does not provide safety glasses and is not liable for students who fail to provide their own eye protection. Long hair must be tied back at all times while in the studio.
Class dates and times are listed on the Registration: All In-Studio Classes page. If you have any questions about class content or registration please call 919-240-5253 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
