Online Cloisonné Classes – Three Session: 12, 14, 19 November 2024

Learn Cloisonne enamel from one of the masters of the craft. James Carter has over 40 years of experience in jewelry making and metalsmithing and has had his work displayed at premier galleries across the US.

Students will be introduced to Cloisonne enamel during this 3 series course, learning the basics and moving into more advanced techniques. This class covers cloisonne on a flat or domed surface. We will work with a 3” domed copper circle, create a cloisonne design in wire, and then “paint” the piece with transparent and opaque enamels.

During this class, James Carter will introduce students to the following skills:

• Prepping metal for cloisonne
• Making cloisonne wire (different thicknesses and shapes)
• Bending cloisonne wire
• Kiln firing enamels
• Multi-layer foiling
• Extensive color blending techniques
• Granulation

This is an online Zoom course. With this course, you will receive the following:

• Six hours of live (online) demonstration and instruction.
• Access to a private Facebook group to ask questions and share work between classes

• Pre-class (design) handout
• Class handout
• Access to download and keep the class video

This is a demonstration class. Students may follow along in their studio at home, but it is not required. Because of its design, it is appropriate for all levels.
